Walk with us through the history of Narita Manufacturing

1938

Founding of Narita Manufacturing October 1938: Narita Manufacturing was founded in Honami-cho, Showa-ku, Nagoya. Began production of railway car parts.

1945

Relocation to Mizuho-ku August 1945: Relocated to Tako-cho, Mizuho-ku, Nagoya. Business resumed alongside postwar reconstruction.

1958

Construction of the Head Office Plant April 1958: Head Office Plant constructed in Hanaomote-cho, Atsuta-ku, Nagoya. Production system moves into full swing.

1959

Start of Electrical Equipment Parts Production November 1959: Began production of automobile body parts and electrical equipment parts.
Construction of the Mito Plant December 1959 / October 1965: Mito Plant constructed in Mito-cho, Hoi District (now Toyokawa City), Aichi (Phase 1 construction).

1964

Opening of the Tokyo Sales Office June 1965: Tokyo Sales Office opened in Kanda-Sakumacho, Chiyoda-ku, Tokyo. Began full-scale sales activities in Tokyo metropolitan area.

1965

Completion of Phase 2 Construction at the Mito Plant The second phase of construction at the Mito Plant was completed in October 1965.

1976

Expansion Work December 1976: Expanded manufacturing department office and warehouse of the Head Office Plant.

1979

Award from the Governor of Aichi Prefecture November 1979: Received an award from the Governor of Aichi Prefecture for new product development and quality improvement, recognizing our technical capabilities.

1983

Expansion Work March 1983: Expanded the Head Office Plant site.

1985

Development of New Gangway Bellows for Overseas Railway Cars April 1985: Successfully developed new gangway bellows for railway cars for overseas markets. Established the foundational technology for international expansion.

1988

Opening of the Kobe Sales Office April 1988: Kobe Sales Office opened in Kominato-dori, Chuo-ku, Kobe.

1989

Opening of the Minami Plant / Start of Head Office Plant Reconstruction April 1989: Minami Plant opened in Taro-cho (now Yutaka), Minami-ku, Nagoya and began reconstruction of the Head Office Plant. Implemented major expansion of the production system.

1990

Completion of the New Head Office Plant Building

1992

Conclusion of a Technical Partnership Agreement September 1992: Technical partnership agreement concluded with Woojin OHM Co., Ltd. of South Korea for the manufacture of railway car doors.

1997

Completion of the Mito Anodizing Plant

1997

Establishment of Joint Venture Tangshan Narita Railway Vehicle Equipment Co., Ltd. ISO 9001 Certification

2003

ISO 14001 (1996 version) Certification Acquired ISO 14001 (1996 version) certification. Established an environmental management system.
'Monozukuri Brand NAGOYA' Encouragement Award Received the 'Monozukuri (Manufacturing) Brand NAGOYA' Encouragement Award from Aichi Prefecture in recognition of our technical capabilities.

2005

Selected as One of the '300 Vibrant Monozukuri SMEs' Selected by the Ministry of Economy, Trade and Industry as one of the '300 Vibrant Monozukuri (Manufacturing) SMEs.'
ISO 14001 (1996 version) Certification Established an environmental management system.

2007

70th Anniversary of Founding

2007

Exhibition of a new type of gangway Exhibited a new type of gangway at InnoTrans 2008, the international trade fair for railway technology.

2009

Opening of the Mito Minami Plant Mito Minami Plant opened in Mito-cho, Toyokawa City.

Establishment of NARITA MFG., INC (USA)

MSJ4000 Certification

2013

Entry into the Aircraft Field Entered the aircraft industry, establishing high-precision parts manufacturing technology and opening up a new growth field.

2014

Letter of Appreciation Received a Letter of Appreciation for the 50th Anniversary of the Tokaido Shinkansen.

2015

NARITA MFG., INC. obtained ISO 9001 certification

2016

Grand Prize Received the Grand Prize at the Nippon Sharyo, Ltd. Welding Competition.

2017

80th Anniversary of Founding Held a ceremony in Bangkok, Thailand, to commemorate the company's 80th anniversary. VE Award Received the VE Award from Mitsubishi Heavy Industries, Ltd.

2018

Completion of the Okazaki Plant Welding Technology Competition Award Received an award at the 44th National Light Metal Welding Technology Competition.

2019

Grand Prize and Excellence Award Received the Grand Prize and Excellence Award at the Nippon Sharyo, Ltd. Welding Competition. Launched the LesVIPs brand Began offering Swiss wines. Opened the COP10 Origami Project time capsule

2021

Certificate of Appreciation Received a Certificate of Appreciation from Japan Transport Engineering Company (J-TREC).

2022

Distinguished Service Award Received the Aichi Prefecture Federation of Small Business Associations Distinguished Service Award.

2023

Corporate Encouragement Award Received the Corporate Encouragement Award from The Japan Institute of Light Metals. Limited Time Offer of LesVIPs Wines LesVIPs Swiss wines were offered for a limited time aboard JR Kyushu’s “Seven Stars in Kyushu.” Exhibitions Exhibited at BICYCLE-E・MOBILITY CITY EXPO 2023. Exhibited a toilet unit at Mass-Trans Innovation Japan 2023. Completion Ceremony Held a completion ceremony for the second factory building at the Okazaki Plant.

2025

Awards and Recognitions The “Pedal-Operated Bed Stopper” was certified as a Wellness Valley Brand product.
NARITA MFG., INC. received the Best Quality Award from Kawasaki Rail Car’s Lincoln, Nebraska plant. Certified as an Aichi Brand Company. Exhibitions LesVIPs Swiss wines were served at the Swiss Pavilion at Expo 2025 Osaka, Kansai, Japan.

2026

Awards and Recognitions The “WBS” wheelchair lifter for small aircraft received the Nagoya Industrial Technology Grand Prix.
Received the Excellence Award at the 10th Monodzukuri Nippon Grand Award for “Improvement of Deep Drawability of Aluminum Alloys through Partial Softening and Mass Production Technology.”
